Prismacolor

Description

For Christmas I received a set of Prismacolor colour pencils and now I have finally had the chance to put them to the test. The colour pencil part here of course is the face, and has been augmented digitally.

Out of the “artist pencil” brands I have tried (Faber-Castell Polychromos, Derwent Colour Soft…) I have to say that the Prismacolors are by far the softest and most opaque. They also blend easily, while still allowing the texture of the paper to come through, which is nice when you want to keep that organic feel, even when importing into Photoshop. They work well with my Polychromos thankfully since it’s difficult (and expensive) to get individual colours in the Prismas unless you live in America…

Another piece of equipment that I have tested out here is my new camera that I picked up in the sales. I decided to just go for a Bride since I’m not exactly a photographer, but I definitely needed something better than what I had. I’m happy with it so far, and it has photographed this particular image quite well.

All in all I’m more than happy with the new additions to my pencil collection. I hope you enjoy this quick sketch!
